About Me

Hi, I’m Susan Gable—and yes, I’m a full-fledged bookaholic. It’s genetic, really. My parents were book lovers, and my mom sealed my fate by enrolling me in the Weekly Reader Book Club when I was just four years old. I’ve been hooked on stories ever since.

I grew up in New Jersey and spent ten years teaching elementary school before turning my lifelong love of reading into a writing career. I’ve lived in Erie, Pennsylvania for more than 25 years now, and it’s the place I call home. You’ll find Erie’s influence all over my books.

I sold seven novels to Harlequin Superromance and am now proudly indie publishing both fiction and nonfiction. One of my most popular workshops inspired a book on the craft of writing, and I love that I get to keep learning and growing alongside other writers.

I’m a USA Today Bestselling author, and my books have won or been nominated for many honors, including the RWA Golden Heart and RITA awards, the National Readers’ Choice Award, the More Than Magic contest, and the RIO Dorothy Parker Award for Best Debut Novel. I’ve also hit the Waldenbooks Bestseller list (Waldenbooks fans, I see you!).

Readers often tell me my stories make them laugh and cry—sometimes on the same page. That’s the highest compliment I can imagine. I’m honored to give back even a fraction of the joy I’ve found in books over the years.

Want to get in touch? Tell me what got you hooked on reading? Or yell at me for making you cry with one of my stories? I'd love to hear from you.
