Latest News!
May 3, 2008 - I have a release date for my next book! February 2009! I'm so excited. And how great, it's out the month of Valentine's Day! I finished the book and sent it off to my editor in time for the deadline, which was April 30th. Phew. Now I wait for the revisions. Meanwhile I'm working up some new proposals, too. It was a big relief to see that I hadn't forgotten how to write a whole book after the long dry-spell.
Feb. 13, 2008 - Okay, so I'm working on this new book. The hero is one of twelve children. (I know! It surprised me, too. LOL!) Now, obviously, if one guy is handsome (and he's a romance hero, so of COURSE, he's handsome) odds are that, due to good genes, the rest of the family is good-looking, too. So I went and put together a family picture tree for him, because I'm a very visual person. If you'd like to check out the family of my latest hero as I imagine them, go HERE.
Jan. 30, 2008 - Do you need computer help? Does it run or start up slowly? If you have any kind of computer problem, my husband and I run a company that can fix your computer OVER YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION! No undoing all the cords/wires and hauling it to the shop, no waiting for a tech to come to your house. Check out our website, www.PCWebDoc.com.
Dec. 28, 2007 - A whole 'nother year has passed, but finally, FINALLY, I have some news for you, readers! I have finally sold another book! It's been three years and nine months (not that I'm counting or anything! LOL!) between contracts for me. But last week I got a call from my new editor at Superromance that they are buying another book from me. Phew.
I don't know the final title or the release date yet, but as soon as I know, you'll know. The deadline for the book is the end of April, so I'll be busy writing as the New Year rolls in.
I do still have a submission out with another publisher. I've been waiting to hear on that one for almost seventeen months now. The wheels of publishing do not turn quickly, my friends! I have no idea what will eventually come of that submission. For all I know right now, it's being used as a doorstop at the publishing company. Or maybe to level out someone's desk. LOL!
I'm also planning on totally revamping this website, now that I have good reason to do so. So please keep in touch, stop by for updates!
January 8, 2007 - Time sure flies, whether you're having fun or not! Wow, another year. Incredible. Well, I wish I had some good news for you, my dear readers, but at the moment, I don't. I do, however, have some stuff I'm waiting to hear on. Cross your fingers for me, because there's a book out there that I'd really love to write.
This business is very much an up-and-down thing. Just a mirror of life, I guess. Sometimes it's smoother than other times.
I hope all is going well for you. Take a moment and drop me a note, if you'd like. I love hearing from readers, and that's what helps me get through the bumpier times.
August 8, 2006 - I realize it's been a long time since I updated this website, and for that, I apologize. I'd been in a bit of a writing "funk," and it rather made me feel like an imposter. Like the writing police would be pulling up in my driveway at any minute, leaping from their cars with a bullhorn, and shouting, "STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER! Get your HANDS off the KEYBOARD!"
So I didn't feel like I should be updating this website. Because you see, my dear readers, I had no news to share with you. Unless you want to count bad news. (Rejections of story proposals, etc.) And nobody wants to hear that, right? RIGHT!
But I've come to realize that the bad news is just part of this process. And I also came back from RWA's National Conference in Atlanta with some good news. The Pregnancy Test won the National Readers' Choice Award for Best Long Contemporary! Wooo-hooooo! That's so awesome! I'm grateful to everyone who read the book, not just the judges in the contest, but all of you. Thank you. Your emails and letters about the book have helped sustain me through this down period in my writing.
I'll be adding pictures from this year's conference soon.
Now I'm back in the writing saddle, and hoping that I'll have sale news for you all soon. (Just remember that soon is a relative term in the publishing business. <G>)
I'm also probably going to have to make a change to my newsletter. I'm considering making it a Yahoogroup, just because that makes it easier to manage. Someone's been using my information to send spam, damn them, and it's going to make it even harder for me to send out newsletters. Why is it that the spammers still manage to deluge us with their "information" (that's not the word I wanted to use, but I thought I'd be "nice." <G>) but when I have a newsletter, that you folks have legitimately signed-up for, I have to stand on my head to send it out, and jump through all sorts of hoops not to get bounced or blacklisted? They always have a way around it, don't they? Anyway, if you see something from me via Yahoogroups, that's why.
And hey, do you realize that this was a sort-of blog long before blogs came into "fashion?" :-) I'm a pioneer. LOL!
September 15, 2005 - Holly and I yesterday went and spoke to one of the local Erie Red Hat groups, and we had a wonderful time. I think the Red Hat groups are great - empowering for women. And don't they all look great in their purple with the red hats? (Ladies wearing red with purple hats are having a birthday in September.) There are more pics on my photos page! (Click on the word photos page to see those additional pics!)

July 24, 2005 - I am totally THRILLED to announce that The Pregnancy Test came in at #9 on the Waldenbooks Romance Series Bestseller list for the week ending July 16th! Wooo-hooo, and a HUGE THANK YOU to all my readers who made that possible. Thank you for buying the book and putting it on the list. I'm getting wonderful feedback from many readers on this book. Thanks to those of you who take the time to drop me an email or a letter and let me know you enjoyed the book.
May 14, 2005 - Life's been hectic lately. I've dealt with several rupturing ovarian cysts - not fun, not an activity I recommend. I may soon be having surgery to remove another one.
Speaking of surgery to remove things - I
operated on my website today. I got rid of the guestbook. I'm sorry
to see it go because I liked having it to hear from my readers, but mostly it
was just getting loads of spam junk on it. <sigh> So instead, y
ou
can email me, please. Susan AT susangable DOT com. (replace that
with the "normal" signs for at and dot - I have to do it that way now so again,
the spambots don't troll here and pick it up.)
Super has a brand-new cover look in July, just in time for my next book. Let me know what you think of it. Is it eye-catching? Do you like the new look? Do you feel it's a more reader-friendly look?
March 7, 2005 - I'm working on the final proofs for The Pregnancy Test. Some interesting news - it's going to be available in a Large Print Edition. Super is releasing several books a month in Large Print and TPT is going to be one of them! I think that's pretty cool. The book has a separate ISBN (0-373-78030-3) so if you know anyone who prefers large print books, I hope you'll point them in the direction of the large print Superromances!
Feb 4, 2005 - Good news for Whose Child? - it's been named a finalist in the Laurie contest! I'm really glad to know folks have enjoyed that book. Other book news - I just finished the line edits for The Pregnancy Test, so that one is moving forward in production.
On the home front, we moved to a new home, and that's exciting - and exhausting. I'm loving the new house. As soon as the new office is in shape, I'll share some pics. Right now, though, there's still stuff all over the place, as anyone who's ever moved can relate to.
January 8, 2005 - Wow, it's been a long time since I had news. <G> My news for now is that I have just put up the first excerpt from my 2005 book, THE PREGNANCY TEST. Check it out and let me know what you think. Also, starting this month, I'll be giving away a back-list book every month again, with a special contest when we get closer to The Pregnancy Test's release. I hope the New Year finds you all healthy. I'm working on sorting through the contents of my house as we're moving! It's very exciting for me. We're about to own our first house, and that just thrills me. :-)
I'm currently working (okay, not currently, because currently I'm packing) on a new story set in Mill Creek, Montana, the little town where Whose Child? took place. This one features Kegan Riley, the town doc. It's not sold yet, so please cross your fingers that once I get it finished, my editor and the others at Super like it enough to buy it.
August 27, 2004 - The manuscript for THE PREGNANCY TEST is now on its way to Toronto and my editor. I enjoyed telling Sloan's story - it was a lot of fun to catch up with James, Rachel, and Molly again, too. I hope you'll all enjoy it. Next time I see it will be for revisions, then line edits, then proofing the galleys...wow, is it any wonder it takes such a long time between finishing the book and it hitting the shelves? I've added a new page for this book, so you can stop by its page and get a short blurb for it. :-)
My next proposal is set back in Mill Creek, Montana, and I'm looking forward to going back to that little town. I'll keep you up to date on the progress with that one.
School starts up again next week!
August 21, 2004 - Wow, the summer has flown past! I had a wonderful time going to National this summer. I went to Texas early and stayed with my cp, Jen, who helps me with my books. We had a lot of fun. (Check out the new photos.) Now I'm approaching my next deadline for Sloan's story, which has been titled THE PREGNANCY TEST. I love it because that's the title I gave the story - it really fits on many different levels. Right now the tentative date for its release is next July.
That puts me at 50% on titles. <G> I got to keep the first one, and now the fourth one. That's actually pretty good stats.
June 8, 2004 - It's the last day of school. You know, when I was a teacher, I was jumping for joy. But now...<G> Well, let's just say that I love the routine that school days provide to my household. I'll be starting a new routine, where I get up even earlier so I can get some pages done before my son gets up. Hopefully that will work out well!
I can't believe I forgot to mention this! Mommy Plan WON the More Than Magic Contest in the Long Contemporary category. YEAAAYYY! I'm so excited!
I'm also going to be heading down to West Virginia to do a booksigning in a couple of weeks, so any readers in the area of Clarksburg/Bridgeport, I'd love to meet you! Check out the details on my Appearances page.
May 10, 2004 - Today is the official release date for Whose Child? That's always a lot of fun. I did happen to see the book in my local grocery store the other day. I get a kick out of that. :-) I mean, seeing it in a bookstore is fun, too, but in the grocery store...it's just sort of different. That's where I go every week to buy my eggs and milk, and all that good stuff. (ice cream, cookies...hmmm...I'm making myself hungry. <G>) But I love seeing my book on the shelf.
I've added another excerpt from Whose Child? For a direct link to the new excerpt, just click here. I hope you all enjoy the book.
March 19, 2004 - Yeaaaayyy! I just heard from my editor, and Superromance is buying another book! This is Sloan's story - Sloan is Rachel (from the Mommy Plan)'s brother. The working title for the book is The Pregnancy Test, but I have no idea what the title will be when it's released - Johanna and I didn't discuss that. :-) I'm just thrilled to have another book to work on, and get released to you, the readers. I'm anticipating a spring of 2005 release, but again, the details aren't finalized yet.
March 9, 2004 - I recently received word that Mommy Plan has finaled in the Long Contemporary division of the More than Magic contest! Yeaaaayy! :-) I love to hear good news like that. Oh, and my friend, Holly, has finaled in that contest THREE times this year! She has ummm...two books in traditional and one in romantic comedy, I believe. Go, Erie Romance Writers!
February 10, 2004 - Here we are, in a new year! Time sure flies by! I got the cover today for Whose Child? and once again, the art department at Harlequin has done a wonderful job - they've really managed to capture the characters. I also love that they got so many of the little details perfect, from the color of Sarah's coat, to her curly hair, to the hero, David's deep dimple. Oh, yes, and let's not forget the birthday cake made by the hero. If it looks a little...off-kilter and lumpy on the cover...well...yes, that's how it's supposed to look. <G>
Dec. 31, 2003 - Well, I'm ending the year on a high note. I just found out today that Mommy Plan has been nominated for a Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award for Best Superromance of 2003! Wooo-hoooo! When I consider just how darn talented all the Super authors are, I'm so thrilled to have my book chosen for an award like that this. Super has many incredible writers. Wow. (My good friend, Holly Jacobs, is up for Best Duets! Yeaaayy for the Erie writers - a nice showing for Erie. <G>)
Dec. 29, 2003 - Hard to believe that another year is almost to a close! Time sure does fly by! I'm just finishing up the final set of edits on Whose Child? and eagerly awaiting the chance to see the cover. Look for an excerpt to be posted soon! I've added what I hope you'll find a fun and interesting feature called Behind the Scenes - a look at some of the scenes and stuff that didn't make it into my books. (Think of it as the extended DVD, or some of the "extra" features you might get on a DVD. <G> And please let me know what you think of this.)
I've been having some trouble with my newsletter capabilities, but hope to get that fixed. I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday season, and I hope that 2004 brings you good things - health, time with those you love, good stories... Don't forget to take the time to "smell the roses" - to enjoy the moment.
It's amazing to me to think that four years have passed since I first decided I was going to pursue writing seriously. As we headed into New Year's 2000, I promised myself that I would learn all about writing romance, and I would work hard. My goal was to sell a romance to a major publisher by New Year's 2005. Needless to say, I'm thrilled that I met that goal. Now my goal is to continue to write books that move readers, maybe make them stop and think, but books they will enjoy. It's a privilege and an honor to be able to tell my stories for you.
Happy New Year!
Nov. 26, 2003 - I just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I have so much to be thankful for: my family, our health, the fact that I get to do something I love... I love Thanksgiving. All the great food, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - we always watched that every year when I was a kid, and I'd be yelling for my mother to come and see this balloon or that float or this marching band - and poor Mom would be running in from the kitchen as often as she could. <G> When the tables got turned on me, I realized how difficult that could be. We would always wait to see Santa at the end of the parade, and THEN the Christmas season officially began. No singing Christmas songs before that. :-)
If I had to pick one favorite Thanksgiving food, it would have to be the stuffing. We have a recipe that's been handed down for four generations of the family - yummy!
My shopping for Christmas has only just begun - and I'd like to get it finished as soon as possible. :-)
May you and yours enjoy Thanksgiving.
October 28, 2003 - Another phew. The revised version of Whose Child? just left Erie on its way to Toronto and my editor. The next step will be doing the line edits. I'll tell you, by the time it's all actually finished, I'm usually sick of the story. <G>
Now we'll see what comes next. I've got a synopsis in to my editor about Sloan, Rachel's brother from The Mommy Plan. If she gives me the go ahead on that synopsis, I'll get the first chapters done, and then we can all cross our fingers and hope Harlequin likes it. :-)
Other than that, I'm enjoying the fall weather. The leaves outside my office window are really starting to get colorful. One of the trees has gone lovely shades of gold. I was glad to change the clocks back this weekend - I hate waking up in the pitch black. Ick. Now we just have to get to Dec. 22, and the days will start to get longer again. The best thing about winter for me is that it's a wonderful excuse to stay in my office and write.
September 29, 2003 - Phew. On Thursday of last week, I mailed off WHOSE CHILD? to my editor. This morning I finished work on the Art Fact Sheets - papers we fill out to help the art department come up with the cover for the book. I also found out from my editor that the book has been pushed forward a month, to May of 2004.
I'm so relieved to have this one done - at least for this stage. I struggled with this one a lot, thinking I'd lost the ability to write. It was a real test of confidence, that's for sure. Anyway, it's off. Now I'm set to work on the next proposal.
Last weekend I was in NJ for a booksigning, and I had a blast! Some folks I hadn't seen in a loooonngg time came to see me, and it was wonderful. One of my high school buddies showed up, and we were able to do some catching up. The mom of another high school friend dropped by, so now I'm hoping to get back in touch with them. A lady who was my Sunday School teacher when I was little girl, and later she worked in my elementary school, and was also involved in the church where I got married came to see me. She'd seen the article in the local paper and came by. That was fun!
Some of my relatives came to see me, and my aunt's co-workers also came out and supported me. Thanks!
It was fun to go back. Click here to see some pictures.
August 28, 2003 - We have a title! I got the official word yesterday from my editor that the title for my third Superromance is: Whose Child? Since the story involves a custody dispute of sorts, it fits really well. I love having the official titles - just makes it easier to relate to the book for some reason. :-)
August 25, 2003 - Well, tomorrow is back-to-school day here in Erie. Yiippiiie! Even my son said he's ready for summer to be over and to go back to school. <G>
I've started a new special photo page with pics of books sent in by readers. Some took pics of the book on the shelf in various places, some took pics of themselves with my book. If you'd like to see the start of this special collection, go here. If you'd like to contribute a photo, I'd love to have it! Please just email in advance and let me know you're sending it to me - otherwise, with all the viruses running around out there, I tend to delete first, ask questions later.
August 16, 2003 - I had a great time today with Holly down at Starbucks. I was good, though, and didn't have a frappachino OR the lemon poundcake. <G> I recently did a tv interview for Celebrate Words, and talking a little about MOMMY PLAN. To see the interview, here's a smaller version, or a larger version.
It's been really exciting to hear from some of you who've read THE MOMMY PLAN already. I'm glad the story is touching so many of you. James, Rachel, and Molly were special characters, and I'm happy so many of you are finding their story powerful. It's on the shelves now, so you can check your local stores for a copy!
I recently found out my third book will be released next June. I don't have a title yet. Hopefully by the end of next week, my editor will get back to me and let me know which title they've chosen. :-) Stay tuned!
I've also enjoyed reading your firefly stories for my contest. Seems a lot of us caught fireflies as kids! They are beautiful, aren't they?
July 25, 2003 - Just wanted to let you know that I'll be giving a FREE workshop on writing and marketing romance (or other genres, but mostly romance) novels with my friend, Holly Jacobs, at the Celebrate Erie Days, August 16th. For more information, see my Signings/Appearances page.
July 22, 2003 Note - Clickable links in this passage will take you to picture pages!
Okay, I'm finally recovered enough from the RWA National conference to talk about it. lolol! Conference this year was in NYC, and my critique partner (well, one of them) and best friend from Texas flew up here to Erie, PA. Then, several days later, we drove from here to my parents' house in NJ and spent the night there. On Tuesday morning, we went in to the city. We had a blast. Tuesday night we went to see Phantom of the Opera. We had second row seats, just a bit off center, and there was no one sitting in front of us! Talk about luck! I had never seen Phantom, and loved it. (It also stimulated a story-idea. If it gets off the ground, I'll be sure to let you know. Actually, parts of this story have been in my head for years now.)
I got to meet my new editor, and I just adore her. I had dinner Wed. night with her and all of the other Super editors, along with the other Super writers who were up for Rita awards. (Debbie Macomber was there, and I love her work, but as she was wayyyy down at the other end of the table, I didn't get to chat too much with her. Sigh. Maybe another time. Debbie won a Rita! Yeayyy, Debbie!)
Thursday afternoon, we were all invited to the Harlequin/Silhouette offices, which have recently moved into the historic Woolworth building. The building is very neat - I enjoyed all the different architecture in the city. We had some goodies, and got to look around the offices. But, they hid the slush pile, cause I couldn't find it. <G> I wanted to take a picture of all those manuscripts!
Thursday night was a pajama-party, hosted by eHarlequin. That was fun. eHarlequin is a great place. www.eHarlequin.com - go to communities, and you can find all kinds of people talking about all kinds of things, from writing, to reading, to...The Amazing Race. <G> Which I missed this week, darn it. But, at least it was a non-elimination round. ;-)
Harlequin held a fantastic party at the Waldorf-Astoria on Friday night. Goodness, we know how to party. <G> Yummy treats, lots of dancing, good fun!
Saturday night was very nerve-wracking. Being a Rita finalist is a WONDERFUL thing, but....very nerve-wracking. <G> I thought they would never get to my category. I sat there, waffling between wanting them to call my name, because, hey, winning would be very, very cool <G>, and NOT wanting them to call my name because that would mean I had to go up there, in front of all those people, and try to act composed. <G>
And I was convinced that if they called my name, and I went up there, I'd discover that under those bright lights, my beautiful dress was transparent, and boy, wouldn't THAT be embarrassing?? But...they didn't call my name, and thus I was spared that humiliation. :-) The woman who won the Best First Book Rita is a lovely lady, and you should check out her book - Shades of Honor by Wendy Lindstrom.
June 23, 2003 Well, I just got home from a wonderful vacation. We went to visit some friends in Southern California, where I learned an interesting thing - it's not very warm or sunny in Southern California in June. They call it "June Gloom." Sheesh. <G> Well, we had loads of fun anyway. Click here to see some pictures - you can see Irving, Jake's cat from THE BABY PLAN. Irving was based on my friend's cat, also named Irving. (You didn't really think I made up a cat named Irving, did you? <G>)
I'm also excited that the day before we left on our trip, I got a phone call that said THE BABY PLAN had won the More Than Magic contest in the Best First Book category. Wooo-hooo!
I've added to the links page in honor of the up-coming release of THE MOMMY PLAN. All kinds of links about transplants and summer camps for heart kids. Check it out.
April 14, 2003
Let me begin with this: I love the art department at Harlequin! I got the cover for THE MOMMY PLAN today, and it is just gorgeous! I wondered how they were going to top the cover for Baby Plan, but they did it. Click here and take a peek, and then sign my guestbook and let me know what you think. Am I just being a "proud parent" or do you like the cover?
March 28, 2003
Yiipppiieee! I got a call today from my editor. Superromance has bought my third book! Yeaaayyy! The working title is Solomon's Child, but we're pretty sure it's going to change. To what? I don't know yet. I'll let you know when I do. Now I have to get busy and write the rest of the book. :-)
March 23, 2003
Wooooooo-hoooooooo!!! I got a phone call last night from RWA to let me know that THE BABY PLAN is a finalist in the Rita Awards for Best First Book! Wow! I am so happy. Man, this has been one heck of a year. It was only just about 13 months ago that I got THE CALL, and wow, here I am now, with my debut book getting such fantastic recognition. I'm telling you, people, dreams really do come true - they need some work to help them along, but they DO COME TRUE! :-)
March 16, 2003
Fantastic news! THE BABY PLAN won the Reviewers International Organization's Dorothy Parker Award of Excellence, for Best Debut Novel, 2002! Wooo-hoooo! I am sooooo excited, and just thrilled that people really enjoyed the book.
March 2, 2003
I thought I'd start a photo page for the website, and so, if you'd like a look at my messy desk and later on, a few other things, click here.
February 17, 2003
I've been really busy with revisions/edits on THE MOMMY PLAN, but I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day! Sign my guestbook to win a copy of my book and some yummy chocolates to celebrate this month of LOVE! <G>
Great news! THE BABY PLAN hits shelves in Australia in March! How neat is that? Here's what the cover looks like in the land Down Under:
February 10, 2003
Today Holly Jacobs and I recorded a radio interview with The Breakfast Club on Classy 100, which will air on Wed. sometime between 7:30 and 8:00, I think. We had a lot of fun. The show hosts, Chuck, Brenda, and Dave, were just lovely, and very easy to talk with. Holly and I had a good time. We also got to enlighten our hosts about some of the changes in the romance industry, as in, these aren't your grandma's Harlequins! <G> (So, if you haven't tried a recent Harlequin, you SHOULD. <G> Times have changed.) Here's a pic of us at the radio station - Holly on the left, then me.
February 3, 2003
Another month, gone already. Time sure does fly by! Congrats to the latest winner of my Holiday Platter contest, Kathy B.! Be sure and stop by my contest page for a yummy February prize - chocolate, what else? <G> I'm giving away some of my favorite chocolates in addition to an autographed copy of TBP.
I'll be doing a talk on romances called "Isn't it Romantic?" with my good friend, Holly Jacobs, on Saturday, Feb. 15th, at the Erie Barnes and Noble at 1:00. Afterwards we'll be doing a signing. If you're anywhere near Erie, we'd love to see you.
We've also got a radio interview lined up for Monday, Feb. 10th at 7:30 am with Classy 100 radio station here in Erie. Should be a lot of fun.
January 16, 2003
Wow, it's been a while since I did an up-date and so many things have happened. (Including problems with my IP server for this website, which is why there weren't any updates for a while. <G>) My book hit the shelves, and is already off the shelves. I had a wonderful booksigning at Walden's, and I hope to get some pics up soon from that.
THE BABY PLAN, from all reports, has been selling well. One cool indication is that it's sold out on eHarlequin, and I thank all of you who've purchased the book. It's been fun to hear from you, and see how much Harley's story touched you.
Now, I have some other really cool news! TBP was nominated for a Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Superromance of 2002! Woo-hooo! I was so thrilled to get this news! :-)
Nov. 11, 2002
Happy Veteran's Day! I'd like to salute all the brave men and women who have served in our nation's military, in defense of the freedoms we love and sometimes take for granted. Hey, in some countries you can't read or write romance novels. I'm grateful to be able to do what I do.
I also have some news today. It looks like the release date for THE MOMMY PLAN will be August of 2003! Yippiieee! So, it's good to have a date, and it's good to know it's summer release for my summer romance. :-)
Nov. 1, 2002
Oh my! I can't believe it. I'm holding my baby in my hands. It still seems surreal, and yet, I have a book in my hands, a real book with a cover and pages, with my name on the cover. I know the words in this book, the characters are near and dear to my heart, and yet.......it still seems not quite real.
LOLOL! Isn't that the oddest thing? <G>
I went out to lunch today with my husband. I've been really sick for the past two weeks, and just now feeling better. We got a new bed delivered today, and I got some pens from Harlequin for my booksigning. I was thinking it was a great day! Then I got home, and found a sticky note on my door from the Fed Ex man. It said they had two packages for me. AND I MISSED THEM!!
I called my poor dh on the phone, and told him, "If those were my books, and I missed them, you're in trouble!" <G> (Only my poor dh could get into trouble for taking his wife out to lunch. I know, I know, totally illogical, but, DANG, I wanted to see my book! <VBG>)
So, I had to wait until late afternoon to call Fed Ex. I was supposed to take a nap, and rest (on the new bed) but it was very difficult. My dh came home early, and he stopped at Fed Ex on the way (he's a hero, even if I did yell at him earlier. <G>) but the package wasn't there. So, I had to wait longer. Finally, after 5:00, the driver returned to the shop and we were able to go and pick up the packages.
And lo and behold.....it was my BOOKS! <G>
I think I'll go and look at them some more. <G> Maybe it will finally start to sink in that it's real. <G>
Oh, and other news today: If you go here, you can read an interview of me at Escape to Romance. Also, the review for TBP by Julie from Escape to Romance is also up. Go here.

Wooo-hoooo! I'm soooo excited! I found out today that Romantic Times BookClub gave THE BABY PLAN 4.5 stars, and named it a Top Pick! The reviewer, Pamela Cohen, also said: "...THE BABY PLAN (4 1/2) is like a rainbow: As Jake and Harley's love emerges into the light, the colors of the romance change in intensity. Readers will adore Harley's individuality."
Isn't that fabulous? I'm thrilled. It's so wonderful to me that other people can connect with Harley.

I'm pleased to announce that I'll be able to sell autographed copies of my books directly to readers. If you're interested, click here.
In about one more month, I should be receiving my author copies! I cannot WAIT to hold this baby in my hands! Time seems to be slowing down. It's like a kid waiting for Christmas. <G>

Wow. Hard to believe that only two more months until THE BABY PLAN hits the shelves! I'm really getting excited. (As if I weren't before this. <G>) I should be mailing out the revised manuscript for THE MOMMY PLAN on Tuesday.
On Friday afternoon, my husband brought me home a special
surprise. It's a HUGE poster of my cover, done on a plastic-type board.
It's wonderful, and so are he and my son for giving me such a special present!
Thanks, guys! Click HERE to see a
bigger version! You have to excuse my hair and lack of make-up -- it was a
spur of the moment picture!

The bookmarks for THE BABY PLAN arrived today! It's all very exciting. October starts tomorrow, and then we're really getting close to the release date! I'm also just about finished with the revisions for THE MOMMY PLAN. And, to celebrate, I've given it a webpage all its own. Click here to read more about my second book. Also, just as a heads-up, I'm planning on starting contests here in November. So, be sure to stop back so you can enter.

Well, the first review for THE BABY PLAN is in - Julie from Escape to Romance had some lovely things to say about it! ("If you crave a spicy story with plenty of heart, don't miss THE BABY PLAN.") Thanks, Julie! I'm thrilled with what else she had to say. Also, I heard from my editor today. Henceforth and forevermore, my next book, formerly known as Firefly Wishes will be known as THE MOMMY PLAN. :-) I'm so relieved to have a title. You would not believe how hard it is to have it in limbo like that. ;-)

Woo-hoo! First day back to school. The house is nice and quiet, and I'm getting some work done. <G> That said, click here to see the interview I did yesterday. (It's kind of low resolution in the effort of saving down-load time and space - sorry about the fuzziness!) And hey, leave me a message on my guestbook to let me know what you think! Also, to sign up for my newsletter, go here, to my home page. It's down at the bottom.

I had my first media interview today, on LIVE tv! Yikes! I was a bit nervous, which won't surprise anyone who knows me. But the folks at the station said they found it hard to believe I was anxious, as it didn't show at all. (Thank goodness! <G>) The anchor, Mark Soliday, was very nice, which made the interview a lot easier on me. My husband is working on getting the interview up on the Internet, so as soon as that's done, I'll be back with a link to it.

I added some words of wisdom from THE BABY PLAN's heroine, Harley, to the website today. Harley has an interesting outlook on life, and I hope you'll enjoy these little tidbits from her. I call them "Harleyisms."

I am so excited!! The cover for THE BABY PLAN (To see the full cover and back-cover blurb, click on that link) came today! I was on the phone, talking to my mom and cutting up carrots for tonight's stew (to be cooked in the crockpot today while I work, do errands, etc.) when I thought I heard someone at the front door. So, I said goodbye to mom, and as I walked into the living room, someone used the brass knocker to rap on the door really hard. (Our doorbell doesn't work. <G>) I peeked through the window, saw the Fed Ex truck, and flipped out! I opened the door in a hurry, grabbed the clipboard, signed it, and squealed, "I hope it's my book cover!" The Fed Ex guy looked at me a little weird - he doesn't know I'm a writer, we haven't formed that intimate of a relationship yet. <G>
I snatched the envelopes and swung back into the house. My son was in the living room, waiting to see what's going on. He said, "What it is?" I said, "I think it's my book cover." He said, "Well, hurry up and open it and let's see."
So I did. And it was.
And it's GORGEOUS! Exactly the way I described on the art fact sheets. The back blurb is terrific. I'm ecstatic!
So, I called my husband. He said, "Well, hurry up and scan it." I knew everyone would want to see, so I tried. Of course, the scanner didn't cooperate. (Don't you love technology??) I had to call hubby back at work so he could walk me through fixing the situation.
Oh, and the stew turned out pretty good, too. :-)
Other exciting news - my first media interview will be on Monday. The bad news is that it's going to be on LIVE television! Accckk! At least if it were taped, they could edit it. I LIKE editing, I'm a writer. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm back from an exhausting but wonderful writer's conference in Denver, Colorado with some fantastic news. While at conference, my editor told me that Superromance ® wanted to buy my Golden Heart finalist manuscript, Firefly Wishes.
Yipppiiieeee! I'm not sure what the title will actually be yet, and I've got some rewriting to do (which is the name of the game, for all you aspiring writers out there) but they've bought it. I'm thrilled.
Also at conference, I got to spend time with my critique partners, and many other writing friends. We had a lot of fun. I'll soon be adding a photo gallery so you can see just how much fun. (I'm accepting payment from some people NOT to post photos. <G>)
This year at conference, I kind of felt like Cinderella. I had a meeting with my editor and senior editor, got to have lunch with all the Superromance ® editorial staff and the other new Super authors (we went to Brown Palace hotel, had a private dining room and everything! Wow, talk about feeling special!) went to the e-Harlequin pajama party, and the Harlequin bash at Wolfgang Puck's, wore my First Sale ribbon, made my second sale, and was a Golden Heart Finalist! Phew, no wonder I'm only just now recovering from my exhaustion!
I just finished the galleys for THE BABY PLAN, so that book will soon be going to press. How exciting! It's hard for me to believe that in about four months, my book will be on the shelf. The next big step is getting to see my cover, which should happen very soon - and you can rest assured I'll be posting it on this site IMMEDIATELY so I can share it with all of you.
